brief
Design a book jacket cover of your choice. The cover needs to convey the spirit of the book, as well as communicate the book’s message using one main letter. The design must also appeal to the target audience/demographic.
concept
I chose ‘Strangers on a Train’, a psychological thriller novel written by Patrica Highsmith in 1950. The novel follows two men, Guy and Bruno, whose lives become intertwined after they meet one day on a train. Bruno convinces Guy they should trade murders, and a tale of chaos and overwhelming guilt ensues.
I chose to use ‘S’ as my main letter. Two long arms, representing the novel’s two main characters, wrap around the book from either side, meeting in the middle and forming an ‘S’ shape with their hands.
The main colour of my book jacket is green, referencing the green of Penguin’s classic crime novels.
